Education
Since 2000, Liberal has invested 23.6 million dollars in education to either build new facilities or remodel existing buildings. The public school system consists of a senior high school, two intermediate schools, two middle schools, seven elementary schools and provides a speech clinician, special education, and a full-time psychologist. The Liberal Senior High School offers two major graduation programs: College Prep and Tech Prep (2+2).
On July 1, 2008, the Seward County Community College and Southwest Kansas Area Technical School merged and are now the Seward County Community College and Area Technical School. The merger provides Liberal, southwest Kansas, and surrounding communities in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and New Mexico with expanded educational opportunities. it also provides a more effective and efficient system of higher education, resulting in greater cost efficiencies.
Also part of Seward County Community College and Area Technical School is the Epworth Hospital Building. The building serves as the Allied Health Center, part of SCCC/ATS, including training in nursing, medical laboratory/technology and respiratory therapy.
Liberal has two Private Christian Schools; Southwest Kansas Christian Academy and Fellowship Baptist School which offer K-12 with accelerated education programs.
