Celebrate with us!
The community is invited to attend our mural dedication ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 4th at the mural wall in Light Park! Hear more about the project, meet the artist, and come take photos with Liberal's newest art installation!
About the Project:
The City of Liberal was awarded a grant for public art murals from the Kansas Arts Commission in 2024 and has undergone two phases of public engagement activities to select the mural themes and overall final design for a community art mural. This mural will be located at Light Park facing Kansas Avenue and the goal of the project is to reflect community pride and culture while beautifying our outdoor spaces. The themes selected by our community to include were: Family/Friendship, "Wizard of Oz," Agriculture, Welcoming/Friendly People (Seymour Rogers), Pancake Day Tradition, Cultural Diversity, and Aviation History. Design 2 was the winning design chosen by the community and local artist, Karem Gallo Flores will complete the mural. Modifications will be made based on widespread feedback to include sunflowers in the mural border.
