City Commission Meeting Update - February 10th, 2026

On Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 the Liberal City Commission addressed the following items:

Consent Agenda items (airport leases) were approved by the Commission.

The Commission reviewed engineering estimates for street and lot development costs for an undeveloped portion of Loraine Avenue. The estimate was compared against a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID) feasibility analysis for the four parcels to be developed. Following discussion, the Commission voted 4-1 to grant the land owners an exception and waive the subdivision regulations requiring a developed, City-maintained roadway.

Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2448 permitting an application to the T-Mobile grant program to support operational efficiency projects at the Liberal Animal Shelter.

The Commission voted to approve the purchase of a budgeted replacement mower for the Parks Department from Keating Tractor & Equipment. Mayor Parsons abstained from the vote.

Commissioners voted to approve the appointment of Candy Garcia to the Arkalon Park Advisory Board.

The Commission also voted to approve a budgeted purchase of two replacement mowers for the Willow Tree Golf Course from Keating Tractor & Equipment. Mayor Parsons abstained from the vote.

Staff provided the Commission with an end-of-year performance update for the Mid-America Regional Airport and presented an overview of the current advertising campaign for the airport. Roundtrip enplanements increased 16 percent over the prior year with only one controllable flight cancellation in 2025.

The next regularly scheduled Liberal City Commission meeting will take place February 24th, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.
