Local events contribute towards our quality of life and add visitor appeal for our city. The City of Liberal is pleased to offer and maintain a calendar of community events. The calendar is a tool for the public to promote and view community events and activities.
Event organizers are encouraged to submit event information for approval by email to mandy.read@cityofliberal.org OR by submission to the “Submit An Event” form link below.
Approval is based on the following criteria:
- All entries should be submitted no less than 10 days prior to the date of the event/activity to ensure posting to the Community Calendar. If approved, the City of Liberal will do its best to post submitted items within 2-3 business days.
- All events/activities must be open to the general public (not just to organization members), must present an appealing experience for visitors, and must not discriminate on any legally impermissible basis.
- Ticketed events must have tickets available during the time the calendar item is displayed.
- A community event calendar form will need to be completed with all required information included. (see online forms).
Examples of acceptable events submitted to the City of Liberal community events calendar include:
- Events open to the public including community celebrations, farmer’s markets, school events, educational opportunities, local sporting events, art and cultural events, and other community activities.
- Fundraiser events for non-profit agencies, schools, social services or other organizations.
- Informational seminars, clinics or meetings.
Examples of events that are NOT eligible to be added to the community events calendar include:
- Religious services, political fundraisers and camps.
- Garage sales, baby showers, individual business sales, etc.
- Regularly occurring or ongoing events.
Events submitted for posting containing any of the following will not be approved:
- Profane language or content
- Events that promote a specific religious or political activity or belief.
- Sexual content or links to sexual content.
- Content that promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination.
- Direct solicitation of commerce (i.e. yard sales, discount sales, etc.)
- Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity.
- Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
- Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party.

The city reserves the right to decline event/activity submissions and to edit information for length, spelling, language and clarity. We urge everyone submitting calendar events to review details for accuracy. Information submitted may be shared by City of Liberal and Visit Liberal social media accounts.
In the event that an event is cancelled, organizers are asked to contact the Liberal Convention & Visitor’s Bureau to provide detailed updates regarding cancellation or rescheduling of an event.
