Testing
Once the initial application is submitted, the applicant will be informed of the date(s) to appear for the written examination and physical agility testing. The written examination and physical agility test are both pass/fail.
Written Examination
The written exam is a nationally recognized police selection examination covering basic mathematics, reading comprehension, and grammar.
Physical Agility Test
The physical agility test consists of an obstacle course which simulates actual physical requirements demanded of a police officer. The course is approximately ¼ mile and includes:
- Ascending and descending a set of stairs
- Body drag
- Crawling through a simulated window
- Four foot simulated ditch jump
- Jumping a four foot wall
- Jumping a six-foot wall
- Three sets of 1 ½ foot hurdled
Oral Interview Board
Upon successful completion of the written examination and the physical agility test, the applicants will continue to the oral interview board. The applicant will be notified of the interview board date.
Conditional Offer of Employment & Verification
Upon successfully completing the interview, the applicant will be given a conditional offer of employment and advance to truth verification. The next step is the background investigation. If the applicant successfully completes the background investigation, the applicant will be scheduled for an interview with the Chief of Police.
Upon successfully completing of the Chief's interview the applicant will be scheduled for a medical screen and pre-employment drug testing. Once the above criteria are successfully met, the applicant will then be scheduled for their start date.
