The City of Liberal will begin its annual street surface maintenance project on Monday, August 12. Pending weather conditions, chip seal will begin on Western Avenue first from 15th Street to the railroad tracks. The next section to be complete will be Tucker Road from Kansas Ave to the U.S. Highway 83 bi-pass. Chip seal will also be applied to portions of Northeast Liberal The overall project is expected to be completed in 7 to 10 days, weather permitting.
Residents in affected neighborhoods are reminded to keep vehicles off the streets and avoid sending excess water into the roadway until their street has been completed. Vehicles found in the project area will be towed at the owner’s expense in order to avoid delays to the chip seal process.
There will be no roadway closures and drivers are asked to give crews plenty of space to work safely. Once the chip seal has been properly worked into the roadway surface, pavement markings and school crosswalk zones will be reapplied to streets.

La ciudad de Liberal comenzará su proyecto anual de mantenimiento de la superficie de las calles el lunes 12 de agosto. Dependiendo de las condiciones climáticas, se comenzará a sellar con grava la avenida Western, primero desde la calle 15 hasta las vías del tren. La siguiente sección que se completará será la de Tucker Road, desde la avenida Kansas hasta el cruce de la autopista 83 de EE. UU. También se aplicará grava en partes del noreste de Liberal. Se espera que el proyecto general se complete en 7 a 10 días, si el clima lo permite.
Se recuerda a los residentes de los barrios afectados que mantengan sus vehículos fuera de las calles y eviten que el exceso de agua ingrese a la calzada hasta que finalicen los trabajos. Los vehículos en el área del proyecto serán remolcados a expensas del propietario para evitar demoras en el proceso de sellado.
No habrá cierres de carreteras y se solicita a los conductores que dejen suficiente espacio a los equipos para trabajar de manera segura. Una vez que se haya aplicado correctamente el sellador de gravilla a la superficie de la carretera, se volverán a aplicar en las calles las marcas del pavimento y las zonas de cruce de peatones de las escuelas.
