The Liberal City Commission met for a budget work session and a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 10th.
Following the work session, the Commission gave unanimous concurrence on the 2025 budget proposed by staff. The official budget hearing is scheduled for the September 24, 2024 regular meeting.
The following items were addressed during the regularly scheduled meeting:
Consent Agenda items (airport leases) were approved by the Commission.
Commissioners voted to approve Resolution No. 2420, awarding a bid to Country Club Bank to authorize the issuance, sale, and delivery of General Obligation Temporary Notes to finance solar energy projects placed at city-owned facilities.
The Commission also discussed an incentive term sheet between the City and DQ LBK LLC for the establishment of a new Dairy Queen franchise in Liberal. Among the available incentives were Neighborhood Revitalization Plan program rebates, a proposed Community Improvement District (CID), façade grant matching funds, waiving of building inspection fees, infrastructure improvements to prepare the site, and more. Commissioners unanimously approved the conditions set out in the incentive term sheet to be offered to DQ LBK LLC.
The next regularly scheduled Liberal City Commission meeting will take place September 24th at 5:30 p.m.
