The LPD & Me Christmas event is a cherished and magical tradition in the heart of Liberal, where officers from the Liberal Police Department (LPD), LPD Cadets, along with other local law enforcement agencies, come together to create a holiday experience that fills the hearts of children with joy, wonder, and the true spirit of Christmas. This event has been spreading holiday cheer to our community for over 17 years. Founded in 2007, LPD & Me Christmas has touched the lives of more than 1,500 children, making Christmas dreams come true and bringing smiles that last a lifetime.
How It Works
Each year, LPD & Me Christmas creates a heartwarming holiday celebration by pairing children with officers and their families for a magical shopping adventure. With wide eyes and full hearts, these children are given the opportunity to choose gifts for themselves and their loved ones, creating a moment of joy and excitement that goes beyond presents—it’s about the thrill of giving, the joy of connection, and the beauty of the holiday season.
The children selected for this event are nominated by the schools within the USD 480 school district. Each school carefully nominates three families who could benefit from this holiday magic. We do not take public sign-ups, as the nomination process is thoughtfully managed by the schools to ensure that those who need it most have the opportunity to participate.
